The origin of the corregimiento Bella Vista, Panama name is still doubtful - many people believing that its name comes from a housing construction company called Bella Vista, who was owned by U.S citizen Mr. Hebart Hoover. Other versions believe that the name was given due to the panoramic landscape seen from the hills where now sits the Universidad de Panama.

Bella Vista, Panama was founded under decree n° 12 of June 1930 under the initiative of the mayor Abel de la Lastra, at the request of residents. Its first inhabiters were upper-class families from the San Felipe, Panama neighborhood.

Bella Vista, Panama measures around 5.1 km² and has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants. Its limits are to the north with Betania and Pueblo Nuevo, to the south Balboa Avenue and Pacific Ocean, to the east San Francisco and to the west, Curundu and Calidonia. The neighborhoods that now comprise this district are: La Cresta, Campo Alegre, Nuevo Campo Alegre, El Carmen, Pasadena, Nuevo Reparto El Carmen, Herbruger-Linares, Obarrio, El Cangrejo, San Gabriel and Marbella. The township road begins at the Bella Vista theater and ends on a elevated bridge on the Martin Sosa street.
